My Etsy shop, Victorysa Creaciones, started with my hands, a few pipe cleaners and a lot of patience. Flowers that never wilt. The day the first order came from someone I had never met, I understood something: what you make with love, someone out there is looking for.

Etsy is the marketplace for people who want something unique — handmade, vintage or creative. If you make things, this is where your buyers already are.

What I learned

Your first sale won’t come from luck. It will come from one good photo, one clear listing and the courage to publish it.

Frequently asked questions

What can I sell on Etsy?

Etsy is built for handmade items, vintage items (at least 20 years old), craft supplies and digital products like printables. Read Etsy's Creativity Standards before listing, because the platform removes items that don't fit its rules.

How much does Etsy charge?

Etsy charges a small fee per listing and a percentage on each sale, plus payment processing. There can also be optional fees, like Etsy Ads or Offsite Ads. Fees change over time, so check Etsy's current fee page and include them in your price from day one.

How many products should I start with?

There's no magic number, but a shop with several listings usually looks more trustworthy and gets found more often than a shop with one. Start with what you can make well and photograph well, then add a few new listings every week.

Why aren't people finding my listings?

Most of the time it's the title, the tags or the photos. Use the words a buyer would actually type, fill all available tags, and make the first photo clear and bright. Then be patient: new listings often take some weeks to gain visibility.

Do I need to ship internationally?

No, you can start with your own country only. Shipping internationally opens more buyers but adds cost, customs forms and longer delivery times. Many sellers start local and expand once the process is smooth.

How do I get my first reviews?

Deliver exactly what the photos promise, ship on time, and send a short, kind message when the order ships. A small handwritten note in the package helps too. Never offer discounts in exchange for reviews — Etsy doesn't allow it.
